Gotham Diaries

OOH-LA-LA, do I have a book to share with you!! If you enjoy saucy books with twists and turns, I suggest Gotham Diaries be your next read.

Overview: A clever, tantalizing absorbing work of social satire by Tonya Lewis Lee and Crystal McCrary Anthony, who guide you through a world of luxury, class, style and extravagance with an incredible view of Manhattan. From the bedroom to the boardroom, to the art world, to the philanthropic jet set, to the hottest spots, this heartfelt, entertaining story explores seduction, scandal, excess, betrayal, desire, dreams and deception through one of-a-kind characters.
"A richly absorbing Tale of Manhattan's upper crust packed with sex, lies and backstabbing", says E. Lynn Harris

I rate this book 3 1/2 stars; in my opinion it is a well thought out and fabulously written book, that kept me intrigued from start to finish. Just when I thought I knew how the story would end, it had a surprising twist. To read more about this book and the authors visit
their website GothamDiaries.

What good books have you recently read???

Disclosure: I have not been asked to promote this book, nor have I made any gains by doing so.

Fabulous Friday Finds

I finally had it, finito, finished, caput...my dieting ways and exercising regiment was not working, so I stopped!

After what seemed like the most liberating week and a half, I stepped on the scale this morning and Hot Damn, I had lost 1.5 pounds. I will take it; after all a loss is a loss, right?

I was besides myself, really at awe. I have been working hard for months to lose 25by35. I am tickled pink and a wee bit closer to my goal. I am ready to try new things, like half the calorie Cocktails.

After reflecting on how I managed push past my plateau, I remembered that due to the medication I was taking from my ridiculous Sinusitis. I was not suppose to drink while on meds, so I refrained from drinking these past two weeks, which I think may have led to the loss.

Let's face it giving up cocktails or even happy hour is no fun, so I searched the Internet and this is what I found...."SkinnyTinis, All The Fun For Half The Calories", by Teresa Marie Howes.

Hello Gorgeous, where have you been all my life??

I will take one for the team (sarcasm of course) and try a half calorie cocktail this weekend. I will be sure to report back. Have a Fabulous Friday!!!

Smooches!!

Book Shelf

Today's Sassy Chica bookshelf entry is not for the weak at heart or the easily offended....if your going to keep reading, please know you have been forewarned!

"His Little Black Book", by Thea Devine.

An intro from the authors website:
In a swanky cafĂ© in midtown Manhattan, three twenty something gals convene to discuss how to achieve their ultimate fantasy: becoming lusciously sexy, irresistibly seductive mistresses to supremely wealthy older men. Founders of their very own Mistress Club—Brooke, a confident brunette; Delia, a feisty blond sexpot; and MJ, an ambitious, red-haired siren—have sworn off unsatisfying one-night stands, vowing to take control of their sex lives. And thanks to Brooke, they have a set of guidelines for becoming elegant mistresses of sin

The intro says it all!

I enjoyed this book, by the pool side with a stiff....cocktail!

Enjoy,

Sassy Chica

Book Review

Reading is a favorite pass time of mine. I have often thought about joining a book club; however I am never really interested in the books they read. So my next genius idea was to host a Sassy Chica "Bookshelf" on my blog.

This month I read a few good books; the one which stands out most is "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment", written by Steve Harvey.

You may know Steve Harvey from his numerous stand up comedy acts or his nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show. What I found intriguing was his reason behind writing this book. Steve says, he has met countless number of impressive women over the years who are successful in every area of their life, but just can't seem to figure out men or what makes them tick. According to Steve it's because they're asking other women for advice, when no one but another man can tell them how to find and keep a man.

My take on this book, in one word is HILARIOUS!

Having already found my Prince Charming, I was hesitant to read this book when I saw it being promoted on Oprah and The View. However, when I came across it at the local library and thumbed through the first few pages, I was hooked and checked it out. Having to later explain to my hubby why I was reading it. "To write a review on my blog of course"!!

If you have read this book or are going to, I would love to know what your take on the book is....

Reading is Sexy

I love to read, maybe because I am not good at it. Okay, let me rephrase that I am a good reader, but a slow reader. Over the years I have tried to become a speed reader, I even read a book about it...that was a joke. I have come to terms that being a good reader takes practice and evolves over time. I enjoy reading books, magazines, blogs, etc.

In my opinion "Reading is Sexy"!! The trick to reading, is to read about what interests you. So I stared with steamy romance (don't judge), moved on to contemporary novels, self help books, spiritual and recently became obsessed with fashion/style/decor books. I also collect cook/cocktail books...I need another cookbook like I need another hole in my head.

I think it is important to make it a habit to read daily. During the summer months I tend to read more and am always looking for a great summer read. I take my kids to book stores and libraries to find books that will hold their interest. I also have a mandatory TV shut down daily. This is where my children and I sit and read for at lest an hour...if they don't want to read a book, they can flip through a magazine, but they have to sit and at least fake it.

I am looking for a great summer read...any suggestions???
